CVTC Sexual Assault Response Team

At Mount Sinai West, Mount St. Lukes, Lenox Health Greenwich Village, and Brookdale Hospital, CVTC maintains the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). This team is comprised of a state-certified Volunteer Rape Crisis Advocate and a state-certified Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE).  These individuals are trained to provide survivors of sexual assault with comprehensive and compassionate care.

Advocates provide:

• Emotional support

• Advocacy with Emergency Department staff

• Advocacy with the police (if a survivor chooses to report)

• Assistance with claims for financial reimbursement

• Safety planning

• A connection to the services offered at CVTC

SAFE Examiners provide:

• Comprehensive medical examination

• HIV and STD prophylaxis

• Emergency contraception

• Forensic evidence collection

• A connection to the services offered at CVTC
